Has a few flaws, but overall pretty fun
- by Nich,
Like most people, my problems lie in the motion controls for the Joy-con, and loading times. I think this can be fixed easily with an update, so I won't let it effect the overall review too much. The Joy-con do read extra notes, and I find it difficult to alternate between the two notes for faster songs. Because of this, I stick to playing with the buttons or touch screen. The song selection is pretty good, but for a full priced Switch game, I was expecting a bit more songs. (Will most likely be fixed with future paid DLC.) I was really pleased to see the addition of Pokemon Sun/Moon's opening, as well as keeping Youkai Watch's ending theme in the games. If you are looking for a story mode, you will not find it in this game. However it does have an arcade mode that you can play with added local multiplayer. You can mix and match controllers to each player can play however they'd like all on one system.Overall as a casual fan of this series, I really do enjoy it despite it's downfalls. It might be a bit of a disappointment to it's core players however.Edit: DLC has been added, loading times have been updated to go by quicker, and new modes added including online play! Updated my review to 5 stars to reflex the changes. Wish it had a story mode, but I love this game regardless! 100+ hours logged.Edit #2: Bought the Tatacon a few months ago. Loads of fun and adds a whole new level of difficulty and fun to the game. I'd definitely recommend with it!
